Orange October

Well hello there!

Just thought I would ask you all this question. What colour is your garden predominantly at present? Mine is Orange - it seems that these strong vibrant autumnal colours are exposing a Grande finale and an encore before the first frosts arrive. The garden is calming down for a well earned rest after an energetic growing time after bearing tasty fruit, vegetables, foliage and pretty flowers during the summer season. The weather the last couple of days has been glorious. Hope to hear from you soon.

  1. Hi Sarah! Your oranges are beautiful! At the moment, we've got lots of green - the weather here in Sydney has gone a bit mad (39C today, 22C tomorrow!), but the leafy greens are still going gangbuster! Lots of rainbow chard as well!

    1. Many thanks for your lovely comments.I do follow your blog with all your delicious recipes and interesting posts by emails. Any ideas what I can do with a glut of green tomatoes. I've made chutney and still probably have over 40 lbs left?
Have fun in the sun, it has been cooler in the UK today.

  5. Thanks for popping by my blog. Although I did a post on orange fall colours, my garden is predominately burgundy and yellow. A nice mosaic.
I also read about your new soup maker - I didn't even know there was a toy like this. :-)

  7. Hi Sarah, The predominate colors in my garden right now are probably from the orange cosmos and of course the orange and yellow zinnias. It was a pleasant surprise to have someone new stop by and leave a comment on my blog. I've started following your blog as well. So anyway, hello, it's nice to meet you. I too have never seen a soup maker before. This fall and winter I'm planning to make more soups for dinner. They sound warm and comforting as right now we've been having much cooler weather than we normally get. I look forward to following along on your blog. It sounds like a wonderful life. Take care.

    1. Oh and I had a question. What is that orange item in the lower right hand corner of your collage? It looks like what we might call a ground cherry here.

    2. Hi Patricia Thank you for dropping by and your comments. Did you enjoy your pesto? I can imagine the smell was lovely.
Yes it can be called ground cherry, but we call it Chinese lantern or can be called Physalis.
Have a good weekend. Love Sarah x

  8. With our recent 3 inches of rain, it's looking like spring here! The grass is thick and bright green. Pink cosmos, roses, and sedum are adding a nice pink to the fall colors. It's my favorite time of year...chilly in the morning, and just perfect in the afternoon.

    1. Hi Thank you for visiting me in the orchard. We have woken up with heavy rain this morning. I really like Cosmos and grew one of Sarah Ravens packets of white purity seeds this year. I hope the rain hasn't damaged them too much.
Will try your slow cooker Apple recipe as we have tons of Apple in the orchard. My little hens are enjoying the windfalls.
      Have fun. Love Sarah x

  10. I love your fall colors. My predominate color is green, with pinks and purples thrown in right now. In s.e. FL our gardens do not go to sleep, or change colors. A few things may go to sleep but for the most part, we garden 365 days a year.

You have a lovely place there and I was sorry to hear about the loss of your dear mother.
